Walking To Lose Weight

In my book “The Weight Loss Hypnosis Solution” I show you how walking to lose weight can also help you enhance your mood, speed up your metabolism, and provide a wide range of benefits. I even show you how to make a game out of daily walking that the whole family can enjoy.

But what if you have trouble motivating yourself to walk in the first place. Here are 5 ways you can turn walking into an enjoyable and healthy passtime that will not only help you reach your weight loss goals, but will improve your life in many ways.

1. Walk with music. I have a playlist in my iPhone specifically designed for walking. Upbeat, lively music can help motivate you to walk with a purpose. Think Kanye West’s “Stronger” or if you’re in a more retro mood “Eye of The Tiger”!

2. Walk up and down. Want to pump up your daily walk? Do it on the stairs! …if you can :-)

3. Walk the dog. If you have a dog, he needs exercise. Why not schedule in a little bonding time and walk him yourself instead of just letting him run around in the back yard. Put him on a leash and lead the way. You’ll both benefit.

4. Walk hand in hand. Take a walk after dinner with your spouse as you discuss the news of the day. It’s easier to walk longer when you’re engaged in conversation. It’s also a great way to speed up the digestion of your meal and get closer to the one you love.

5. Learn while you burn. Listen to self help audio books on your MP3 player while you walk. That way you can improve yourself inside and out at the same time. I suggest the Weight Loss MP3 to get started. That way you can keep your focus on losing weight at the same time that you’re burning calories and actually doing something about it.

Excellent advice. I am going to start walking my 2 dachshunds every day at the park, with my MP3 player to listen to either music or an audio book.

Do you plan on making an audio copy of your book? That would be great to listen to while walking.

You may not realize it, but it’s blogs like this that make my day I am glad that you have posted this, because this sort of encouragement is just what I’ve needed for a while. I was ill-prepared to continue running throughout this pregnancy, but just your simple encouragement and advice has given me that extra little boost in my motivation! Thank you

As usual you are on the money. I am 68yrs. old (the old dog who learned new tricks-your quote of me in June (3 wks. after I got you CD’s on a cruise ship) I walk 30-45 min. daily after a 30 min. routine of stretches & light wts. and rubber bands. Then I do 15 min. on ex. bike after. I feel great and continue to slowly lose. I have 10 lbs. to go and seem to be stuck-any suggestions for a jump-start. I also swim 4 or 5 days a week for 45 min.
