Cruise ship speaking travel tips

So this is what happens when you miss the ship… Suzy and I were flying down to Florida today to get on a cruise ship for a speaking and performing engagement this week.

The flights were delayed, then rerouted, and finally cancelled due to the severe winter storm that’s going on. As I write this we’re stuck in an airport hotel at what should have been our layover. So the bad news is that we will miss the ship tomorrow The good news though is that the airline is flying us at no-cost to the ship’s next port of call, the island of Antigua, where we will relax at the beach for 3 days until the cruise ship arrives and we board it for the rest of the voyage and fulfill the contract. So I guess the lesson is: sometimes missing the ship isn’t all that bad! No,really, the lesson is, never check your bags. I always carry what I need on with me so that we’re comfortable if anything like this ever happens. Travel Tip #1: Always fly to the ship a day in advance so at least you have options if there are flight delays or cancelations Travel Tip #2: Carry emergency contact information with you for airlines, hotels, and ground transportation. Calling can save you from having to stand in a long line in the event of a flight cancelation and can get you a seat on the next flight quicker. Travel Tip #3: Carry on your luggage.
